Detailed description of Quarry Ridge Golf Club

Quarry Ridge Golf Club is a Public 18 hole golf course located in Portland, Connecticut.

Quarry Ridge Golf Course opened in 1992. The course was designed by Joe Kelly and Al Zikorus.

The eighteen holes at Quarry Ridge are spectacularly set among rolling hills and granite rock outcroppings. Overlooking the Meshomasic State Forest and the Connecticut River Quarry Ridge Golf Course sits high on a hill with views of the Connecticut River, tremendous ledge outcroppings and the Meshomasic State Forest, making Quarry Ridge an 18-hole golf course in one of the most spectacular settings you will find anywhere. In fact you will find yourself thinking you are in Vermont, New Hampshire or Maine.

Par for the course is 72. From the back tees the course plays to 6,369 yards. From the forward tees the course measures 4,948 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 4, a par-5 that plays to 509 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 16, a par-3 that plays to 149 yards from the back tees.

Watch out for # 3, a 401 yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole at Quarry Ridge is # 16, a 149 yard par-3.

Despite some wet conditons on some fairways a fairly competitive course. I enjuyed it very much.

Would travel: 20-30 Miles, Vacation Worthy
Bottom line: I would play again, Better than average course for the area, Fair priced based on quality and competitive area pricing

This course has some very scenic views and is in good condition. It is a very hilly course and you are required to take a cart at most times (for good reason). There are some blind shots and the course is tight in areas. This leads to players spending time searching for lost balls which does slow down the pace of play. I have played this course a couple of times and the average round is around 5 hours on a weekend. Be prepared to deal with multiple uneven lies throughout your round. The course does offer some interesting holes with the elevation changes. Overall this is an average course that is worth playing

Would travel: 20-30 Miles, Not Vacation Worthy
Bottom line: I would play again, Average course for the area
